Fine brush and ink on ultra smooth cotton canvas.
Framed in raw Tasmanian Oak ready to hang.
This painting is born from a quiet moment at Paperbark Retreat in Southern NSW—where stillness hangs in the air and the trees seem to whisper their histories. The photo I took there became more than a reference; it was an invitation to look deeper, to slow down and notice the gentle strength of the landscape.
The paperbark itself plays a central role in this work—not just as subject, but as material and metaphor. Its delicate, peeling layers became a symbol of time, memory, and resilience. In my studio, I worked with these textures intuitively, layering washes and marks to echo the way bark sheds and reforms—each surface a story, each tear a trace of what came before.
